My original Super Clean image for the Pi 4 ran on Batocera v30. It was their first 64 bit version, as well as the first version that officially supported the Pi 4. It worked well, but there were a lot of things that ended up being broken out of the box (4k tv support, wifi, Argon One case support, etc) that required manual fixes that seemed to break other things (adding new ROMs, support for TVs under 1080p & computer monitors) for some users. It also had some issues (lack of Vulkan driver support) that couldn’t be fixed.
A few new versions of Batocera have come out since then, but they all seemed to have their own set of problems. The newest version (Batocera v33) appears to be very stable, but upgrading from my own v30 image to v33 resulted in audio not working and a few other hiccups most likely caused by my own back end tinkering to get v30 to work.
So I started fresh! A clean install of Batocera v33 installed onto a 256GB SSD running from Argon One v2 case. I moved over all of the ROMs and artwork from my previous v30 release and added a few upgrades.
Now it’s finally ready to share with you! This image is 238GB, so it should fit on almost any memory card that you want to install it on. I recommend SanDisk or Samsung micro SD cards so you know you’ll have room. All reputable 256GB SSDs should be fine.
Here’s what you’re getting from the BoredGameDad Super Clean 256GB v33 image (Almost all settings can be changed within EmulationStation.):
Resolution set to max at 1920×1080, but is NOT LOCKED to that resolution. So you shouldn’t have any blanking on any tvs or even monitors anymore.
Overclock set to 1800mhz.
All multi-disc games set up to only appear once in their respective gameslist. Batocera should automatically switch discs for you, if it doesn’t then you can utilize RetroArch’s Disc Control menu in the Quick Menu (Hotkey+South button (B SNES) button in-game). Select Eject Disc, then go to Current Disc Index and change your disc to the next one. Then, Insert Disc to continue the game.
Customizable splash screens at startup! No more still image. Have fun!

Full Vulkan Driver support. It’s the driver I have selected to run Atomiswave, Dreamcast, N64, and PS1 games. You should see an overall performance improvement.
As always, this image is intended to be a “No frills, just fun” image. It’s by no means the most customized image available. I actually only minimally customize these images to avoid locking down your experience. Feel free to tinker and add or take away whatever you’d like!
IF YOU HAVE NO AUDIO, PRESS START AND GO INTO THE AUDIO SETTINGS AND CHANGE BOTH AUDIO OPTIONS TO AUTO. RESTART, THEN CHANGE THE FIRST SETTING TO HDMI AND THEN TRY EACH OF THE ITEMS IN THE SECOND AUDIO SETTING. ONE COMBO WILL WORK!!!
